The Last of Us: Part 2's long rumoured remaster — or at least, PS5 port — might very well be real. The latest evidence comes from the LinkedIn profile of a Naughty Dog developer (as spotted by Insider Gaming), who claims to have worked on "The Last of Us: Part One and The Last of Us 2: Remastered". Said profile has since been updated, and mention of the second project has been removed — which obviously means one of two things: either it was an honest mistake, or the cat's out of the bag.
In any case, it would just make sense, wouldn't it? The Last of Us: Part 2 released for PS4 back in 2020, and the PS5 remake of the first game, The Last of Us: Part 1, launched just over a year ago. The timing certainly adds up, and Part 2's eventual arrival on Sony's current-gen console has always felt like an inevitability.
Of course, if this remaster is real, it could open up a can of worms. The Last of Us: Part 1 was, infamously, a full price remake of fairly modern game. And with all of this talk that Naughty Dog's The Last of Us multiplayer and live service project is borderline cancelled, questions will no doubt be asked of the team's priorities.
Do you think The Last of Us: Part 2 Remastered is real? Can you see it having a PS4 to PS5 upgrade path, or do you think it'll be re-released at a premium? Start asking those all-important questions in the comments section below.

I can't even lol!
Yeah but no thanks
Pointless. Utterly, utterly pointless.
But I will be there.
Removed - inappropriate
I don't need this.
At all.
But...
I reeeaaaaaally want this.
Ofcourse its true since they will have a pc release. If no ps5 version people will complain.
Anyone with a braincell understand this.
Pointless remake. I wonder if they'll remaster the 1st game a 3rd time just for the wasted effort.
A lot of people are gonna say its pointless...
Just remember that the HBO series has pulled in an entirely new audience. The same people who copped out the remake will buy part 2 as well.
Like I understand the frustration, but from a business point of view its not exactly surprising or anything🤷♂️
Absolutely pathetic. There really isn't much more to say. This studio is devolving into Rockstar territory. We've already seen the fidelity level they are able to get these games to on current gen consoles. It will be nothing more than a resolution bump and haptic nonsense, and a pc port amounting to basically a rerelease at full price. It's just shameful.
Honestly, I'm not surprised. The Part 1 Remake sold a lot of copies at the full retail price, so you know Naughty Dog will take advantage of that and sell a Part 2 remaster for full price as well.
Hope they bundle in whatever Factions 2 currently is.
It's pretty crazy the last of us series make up just 2 games that if the remastered is released would mean that just 2 titles have been released 5 times lol
@Shepherd_Tallon Same. Who am I fooling? As stupid as it is. Inject that franchise into my veins.
Oof. This is basically more than half of Sony’s output at this point!
Should have been both games bundled for msrp. I will not purchase this just like the last at 70$
Naughty Dog is a mismanaged studio. How deep they have fallen.
In the PS3 era they released 5 projects.
4 videogames and 1 DLC.
2 of em were brand new IPs.
3 of em were Game of the Year contenders.
2 of em were Game of the Year winners across multiple outlets.
In the PS4 era, they released 4 projects.
3 of em were videogames and 1 of em was a Remaster.
2 of em were Game of the Year Contenders.
2 of em were Game of the Year winners across multiple outlets.
PS5 era they released 1 friggin Remake and now a Remaster of a 3 years old game?
Naughty Dog is a mismanaged studio
Naughty Dog becoming a shadow of their past selves under Drukman.
Evidently, this is all Naughty Dog has been reduced to.
Thanks Jim!
I feel like we might get a PS5 remasters of every PS4 first party game perhaps as the HZD remaster hasn’t been confirmed or released yet. I think a remaster info dump will come soon enough. If they’re free updates, fine. Wasted resources, but fine. It’s a strong catalog. If it’s full price without an upgrade path, that’s trash, plain and simple. I don’t necessarily blame Naughty Dog on this, as it does seem more info points that Sony is more responsible for these choices than the studio. I can only hope there’s new games on the way because I like their games and I’d rather just play something new.
Can we have a Bloodborne remake /
remaster now
@lgbthivgross1 yeah but let’s face, the game was bombed by whiny nerds who couldn’t hack what happened in the story so threw their toys out of the pram
@JAMes-BroWWWn
As sad as it may be, this is a sign of the state of the AAA gaming industry in general. Games take longer and more money to make and studios are taking less and less risks.
@KundaliniRising333 it's not really the studios fault though is it? Its Sony what pays the bills and I'm sure it's Sony what have put this into play
@KundaliniRising333
I never played either of the games (I have the first on PS3 but it was free and I played maybe 10 minutes) but watching the DF comparisons the first remake looks much much better than the old PS3 - 4 version remaster. I'd expect similar for the second.
I might pick them up for cheap someday. I'm not above playing PS4 games on PS5 if they perform better (Outer Worlds says hi) but I think Naughty Dog did a good job.
Can't wait for uncharted trilogy remaster remake for ps5, and after that uncharted trilogy remaster remake revision for ps6
@Boucho11 Or maybe the game was drug over the coals by people who felt that the "creative" decisions betrayed the established characters presented in the first game.
Or maybe people didn't like being forced to play as an unlikable psychopath for half the game.
Or maybe people just didn't think a new rope mechanic was enough to make the game feel fresh.
But why address legitimate criticisms when it's so much easier winning an argument against a strawman.
Well they ain't releasing Factions 2, Part 3 or a brand new IP anytime soon so why not. Adore both Part 1 and 2 so I'm naturally a little biased towards the series. The real question if this ends up true is, with Naughydog saying Part 1 was a remake and put a lot of work into it for justifying the 70 price, well this is a remaster so shouldn't be anywhere near 70 then?. If Naughtydog go the Uncharted 4 Lost Legacy Death Stranding remastered cheap upgrade route if you have the previous PS4 version digitally or physically already, that would be nice
@dschons Yeah I'm the same tbh.
The older I get the fewer franchises I follow, but I can't get enough of the ones that I follow.
@Ambassador_Kong I liked Abbie. I also liked the story. Must have hit a nerve with the nerd comment. Happy Friday
@Neverwild then just release it for pc and give the upgrade to ps5, this is the right thing to do rather milking the fans.
I can't believe they are using all these people and resources to remasters/remakes/gaas rather than focus only on new ip's
I mean, when Sony has wasted the past 3 years or so focussing on live service titles and is now realising its been a mistake, releases like this to pad the first party line up are hardly a surprise. Will also be to appeal to PC market, although it will be interesting to see their reaction after the disaster that was part 1.
Other than a release on PC,there is little sense here for PS5 owners. Part 1 benefitted from the upgrade, but LOU2 plays absolutely fine on PS5, particularly with the upgrade patch. Just feels like Sony are in danger of milking this franchise dry now. Shame.
For the avoidance of doubt, TLOU2 is one of my favourite games of all time, but i won't be picking this up
My hope is they fold some multiplayer component into pt2 remake if they're abandoning the entire vision for one large multiplayer+singleplayer live service experince factions 2. Just add factions to pt 2 in the same way it was in Last of Us 2013 and I'm happy!
there is a bigger, fundamental problem here that is being overlooked. we are witnessing the downfall of a once beloved studio.
looks to me that naughty dog has hit a brick wall creatively. they are likely years behind schedule of their next game, whatever it may be (likely last of us 3), due to factions and the development hell it has caused. if i were to take a guess, the last of us 3 is probably 3-4 years away at this point (a game i don't want or need to be honest, but i understand those who want the story to reach a more comprehensive conclusion). naughty dog needs some smaller projects to fill the void and that is why they are resorting to petty and ultimately pointless remakes of games that don't need the treatment. oh, and they are doing it for marketing purposes to coincide with the tv show... talk about shallow
i called out naughty dog years ago in that they would quickly become "the last of us studio" if they delved too deeply into the franchise and sure enough, that is what they have become. i hate naughty dog in its current form and i think it is a travesty that they did not work on a new IP after they completed uncharted 4. all we are getting from naughty dog on the ps5 is the last of us 3 and maybe factions (if it doesn't get outright cancelled) which is destined to be a failure at this point. well, there is always the ps6
@JAMes-BroWWWn well, you can’t really comment on their PS5 releases until after the generation ends. Uncharted 4 didn’t come out until 2016 and the PS4 was released in 2013. Who knows how many games they’ll make before the PS6 comes out.
If the „remaster“ is a thing they make it just because of PC.
Completely pointless and it proves that Naughty Dog is going downhill.
At this point they're just beating a dead Joel.
If Naughty Dog are just doing remakes now then how about the Jak and Daxter trilogy? That would be more worthwhile than this.
@Shepherd_Tallon this is me nowadays. Over the last couple of years, I have played less and less games overall, but the ones I (re)played, I squeezed every drop out of. So much more satisfying. I guess I have learnt to be ok with not playing everything, even if it appeals to me.
Yes! PC port almost confirmed then. I'll buy it a year after its inevitably broken release. TLoU1 on PC is still far from perfect, but it's TLOU. On PC. Must buy.
@dschons Exactly that. I've finally rejected fomo and only play what I know I want.
It means I'm playing the games I love to bits which is something I hadn't been doing enough of. I've happily reverted back to how how we used to play games when we were kids and we only got one or two games a year anyway.
If only they could just release a free patch to upgrade it, like the Witcher 3.
I love we had HZD cooking and now this yet for some reason they cannot bring themselves to give everyone bloodborne. The internet has been screaming about it for years and even if From doesn’t want to do it I’m sure SOMEONE would.
how do you remaster last of us 2 its gorgeous 1440p 60fps already
I hope its a full price release just to see the chaos online 😂
What is the point in remastering a game that's already 60fps on PS5 and still looks better than most of the games on it.
Have Sony forgotten the PS5 is backwards compatible?
There's a lot of hysteria here in the comments, but this really doesn't have to be as bad as people think. They already made their engine ready for PC and native PS5 with TLoU Part I, so it makes sense to reuse that effort. A PC version of TLoU Part II makes perfect sense.
A PS5 remaster is a different kettle of fish, but if it gets a €10 upgrade path like Spider-Man Remastered, I think that's fine. Releasing it without an upgrade path would be an abysmal move of course.
@Shepherd_Tallon oh yes, those were the days. As a consequence, this Christmas, instead of playing something new for the sake of it, I'll be replaying FF7 Remake Intergrade in preparation for February. I'd rather replay a game I know I love as opposed to experiencing something new that is only mildly interesting. Time well spent has become my top currency when it comes to gaming. This used to be very much different when I tried to experience as many games as I possibly could.
@Ambassador_Kong you're right, Ellie was an unlikeable psychopath for half the game, but it was right that the audience wasn't given just what they want.
if its a £5 upgrade then im in but i aint paying full price for it
Maybe Naughty Dog and Sony should sort out Factions 2 before remastering this dross.
Why though ..not needed
@Ainu20 hysteria? i don't believe so. people are disappointed that naughty dog is stuck in a last of us rut at the moment. since uncharted 4 was released in 2016, they have talked about nothing but the last of us and quite frankly, people are sick of it. even worse, they have not created a new IP in over 10 years. they are using valuable resources to remaster games that don't need to be remastered instead of working on a new project — the majority of naughty dog fans would like to see them tackle something fresh and exciting. studios that fail to innovate or step out of their comfort zone become compacent and ultimately fall. this will only lead to bad things for the studio in the long run, including the brain drain of talent that has already left the studio for obvious reasons. unless they figure things out now, they are in trouble.
I definitely want a PS5 version but it should be free as it the changes will be extremely minimal. I know Part 1 took a lot of heat but it was at least a pretty extensive remake (in my opinion). There is no way the distinction will be even close to that here
Yay, more milking!
I think it's real because of Sony's PC strategy (given the games they've ported over already, TLoU 2 seems extremely likely). But I also think they'd be releasing a PS5 version to get rid of the "Only on Playstation" branding that was on the PS4 boxes hence avoiding false marketing lawsuits.
As much as people complain about the full price it'll most likely launch at it'll still sell millions but hopefully there is an upgrade path
Seems largely pointless to me.
Now a PSVR2 version on the other hand...
So porting tlou 2 to pc and making a native ps5 version with a couple more bells and whistles, cool. 👍
Sony - for the wallets!
It's been over a year since TLOU part 1 released I think is due for another remaster! why not is not like Naughty Dog has anything better to do, they are now just that tlou studio
Jesus Christ... why?! This crap is Jim Ryan's legacy. Nothing but "remasters" of recent games and a future of crappy service games.
Utter utter waste of time. I used to love Naughty Dog. Are they really that bereft of ideas now Uncharted has finished? Hard pass from me....I didn't enjoy it that much first time. Cripes it dragged on
@BowTiesAreCool I guess you could say that the player had to control two unlikable psychopaths the entire game.
A remaster or remake of any PS3 game (or before), yes please. But remastering a PS4 game is a waste of time.
If this is a 1-1 update and they sell it as anything other than a TOTALLY FREE upgrade for PS5 owners, Naughty Dog can go straight to hell. No argument. No, well maybe. Just go straight to hell. If it's a Director's Cut with extra content and in full 4k/fps you can get 10 bucks. But that's it.
@Boucho1I was just pointing out that there are a lot of reasons why people didn't like The Last of Us 2 and your strawmanning is reductionist and ignorant. It's like all the people who claim not liking the HBO series was because of homophobia. Try listening to what other people have to say and you just might learn something.
I said it last week Sony is currently only busy with releasing remasters or porting games to PC. I generally despise PC gaming (I don’t understand the port beggars on here as PC gaming sucks… years ago I was into pc gaming but most releases are borderline unplayable / toxic community) but it seems that after this generation I need to build a gaming pc… Good job Sony for making console gamers feeling like second class (if you don’t know what I mean look at Horizon complete edition)
I don't really think I can justify playing TLOU2 again, and unless it has SUBSTANTIAL new content I can't even justify considering buying it. Releasing a remaster of a 3 year old game for 70 bucks after Factions 2 got put on ice would just be salt in the wound... My disappointment in Sony grows day by day, I got a PC that's basically more powerful than 2 PS5s, with an M.2 drive that's just as fast, and Sony is keen on releasing their games on Steam, so why do I even have the console?
What a disappointment of a year for me as a PlayStation fan.
@Ambassador_Kong
Story: TLOU1 >>>>>> Uncharted 4 >>>>>>>>>> TLOU 2
Gameplay: Uncharted 4 >>>>> TLOU2>>>> TLOU1
I really liked the gameplay of TLOU2 but I despised Abby. How can some people be so unlikable 😓
@Ambassador_Kong maybe the real psychopaths were us all along.
Nah I liked Abby though. She was hard done by and the character was entirely justified in her actions. I hope we get a lot more of her in the future.
@Constable_What Hear Hear. PlayStation owner since PS1… Even got the PSP and Vita (really still pissed about how they treated the Vita).
I blame Ryan (thank god he is gone) and Herman Hulst (as fellow Dutchy I am ashamed. What a turd… Wish Phil Spencer was the head of studios instead of him). Guerilla is also transformed in a Horizon studio, while Killzone was a excellent franchise..
One of the greatest games of all time, but wow, this got a groan from me. Not even surprised, and they're not even mentioning PC Ports anymore as that has been a complete disaster as well lol.
I'm sadly expecting a good amount of "remasters" the next few years to keep us fed while Japan cleans up Jim Ryan's live service & PC mess.
To be fair, we have no idea what this remaster even means, much less the price. Or if it's even true. Basically, I see no reason for outrage and indignation just yet.
Let's hear it for the Last of Us Studio!
Thank you Naughty Dog for making the Last of Us and nothing more! I can't wait for The Last of Us Remastered Remake!
Hopefully, there is an upgrade path.
It was inevitable..
Why now? Why not 2 years ago?
lol
Sony has completely squandered the talent and resources of this studio so far this generation.
I haven’t yet played part 2. I need to do that.
I will NOT be paying £50+ for this when I own the PS4 version and it looks and plays great on PS5. I really doubt there's anything they can do that will make it worth £50+.
£15 as an upgrade.
@Oisin If there is an upgrade path, it will be a $10 upgrade fee - it's the Sony way.
"Because it requires work to implement new graphics and DualSense, so they shoud get paid for their work" (not an exact quote from anyone specific, but it has been used a defense for the $10 upgrade fee)
Forget the fact that there were plenty of developers that provided free upgrades and put in just as much work.
Heck, even Cyberpunk 2077 had a free upgrade - and think about the amount of work CDPR put into that!
I just don't see how much more that could be done with the TLOU Part II over the PS5 boost it already gets via back compat aside from native DualSense support and potentially higher resolution. The game already has 3D Audio, so that's not a perk.
If we were to count the remasters as full releases, and I do because they're full priced, ND have so far released three TLoU games with a fourth apparently on the way.
It was a good franchise when it initially released. But if we're to be fair here, it hasn't really aged well at all. It was a product of the times, a 3PS action adventure with survival mechanics. That doesn't hold up at all today.
Between this and support for flagging live services which are almost guaranteed to be DOA, the present Sony strategy seems catastrophic.
I mean, this isn't surprising at all. But seriously, when are we going to see something NEW from Naughty Dog?
This is good news for me. I haven't played it yet. The normal version will hopefully get cheaper
Is Christian bale gona be in it?
@GamingFan4Lyf yes indeed. To be honest, I played it again recently on ps5 and it still really stands up, the game already looks and plays great.
I’m down for that! Its combat was so smooth as far as I can remember. If this is really a thing, I’m definitely buying it. Now, I don’t think it’ll buy it Day 1 though.
I will definitely buy this. Maybe I am a sucker. Maybe I just a glutton for punishment.
But honestly, the Last of Us Part II has never loaded properly on my PS5. So I will be glad to buy a copy that actually plays.
Not that it is exactly a “barrel of laughs”.
You know what would be cool? If they just put in the original planned Factions 2 in this that wasn't the live service thing that is basically dead.
I know its not happening but that would get me to buy it. If it's just TLOU2 I'll pass just like I did with Part 1 on PS5. Sad time to be a Naughty Dog fan it feels like. ☹️
@theSpectre
2038. Maybe.
It's amazing how a studio like Naughty Dog can ***** themselves in such a short space of time.
@dschons You're speaking my language.
I used to play stuff for the sake of playing it constantly. I was either trying to keep up with the guys I played online with or trying to keep up with the monthly best seller.
I've talked before about how I burned out doing that and in the end I didn't even know what I liked to play anymore. Had to take a break from playing anything for a year before going back to it.
After Spidey 2 I'm liking the look of Stellar Blade for Christmas, but if that doesn't release this year I think I'll just play Uncharted 4 on my Portal all day while I watch Christmas movies.
@Boucho11 You can't disregard every opinion because it's a "whiny nerd." It's clear people were upset and even Troy Baker himself said it would be a divisive game before it came out so they were absolutely expecting people to have major negative opinion. I do not like the game, I think it spits in the face of the first game and especially to that of Joel and Ellie's character.
I would hope that they'll only charge maybe $10 - $20 for the upgrade. To charge full price for a game that still holds up so, so well, would be honestly insane.
And to echo what everyone else has said, it is a shame that this seems to be what ND has been reduced to.
AAA gaming in such a sorry state right now, I can count on one hand the big developers who maintain their quality alongside of their successes.
@Shepherd_Tallon
"in the end I didn't even know what I liked to play anymore." Man, that hit home for me. Totally the same for me!
"but if that doesn't release this year I think I'll just play Uncharted 4 on my Portal all day while I watch Christmas movies."
Jesus Christ, I'm imagining it in my head and now I wanna do that, too. LOL!
I’m sure it will be re-released at a premium. I played through it on my PS5 at 60FPS and truly do not feel it needs a full priced PS5 version but that’s the age we’re in right now. You know they want SKU’s for Part 1 and 2 on the PS5 before they come out with Season 2 and before they announce Part 3. IMO that will be the inevitable timeline of events.
Seems to be all this team can do anymore, lol smh.
Sony being Sony while Sony fans are Sony fans.
Well, you know, Sony has got to do something to fill the almost void of first party releases…
Even if there is an upgrade path, would it even be worth it? Can we really expect Naughty Dog to do much to improve a 3 year old game? I finished Part II just end of last year on PS5 and it looked great while running at 60fps, so if this is indeed a remaster then I really can’t see what they can do to justify it. I can’t even see a remake, like the recent Part I, making much of a difference either.
Stop all this remaster and multiplayer stuff Naughty dog and go make an amazing new game, single player story driven.
You amazing at that, we haven’t had nothing shown from you for years.
@JSnow2 @Sanquine I'm just here to continue the Jim Ryan bashing and expressing hope that his replacement is not worse. Hulst was also awful. Sony is in dire need of a new and better vision for PlayStation.
i do remember there was a report of a ps5 upgrade for last of us 2 , but it was pulled. i wouldn't be shocked if they do a ps5 upgrade.
@EVIL-C do you not know how long jim ryan was with sony and playstation , he was a big part of playstation since the ps1 days. its not like all of the sudden he came around for ps5.
Sony milking you TLOU fans for everything and you're happy for it, don't pretend.
I love that the last actual new release Naughty Dog has put out was 6 years ago... and now it's likely getting remastered. Maybe someday we'll actually get a new game from PlayStation's former #1 developer.
The only reason I got The Last of Us Part 1 was because I had enough points to get it free from Sony Rewards. That's the only way I'd get this, especially since I hated the story (great game, bad story). A "refresher" before Season 2 of the TV show wouldn't be a bad thing, but again, only if I can get this for free again. Otherwise I'd just replay the PS4 version.
And Bloodborne continues to collect dust in the corner.
Ain't no way. Color me shocked. Naughty Dog gotta learn from insomniac.
@Boucho11 Careful now man saying things like that here, you'll have the crybabies in saying how the story was ruined, established characters etc.🤣 but Im with ya,.I really liked Abby, beast of a woman, smashing heads getting the job done !!!
I would pay 10 bucks for the upgrade path but things are not going well for Naughty Dog this gen. They need something new soon.
Also just put whatever left of Factions 2 in this and call it a day. Move on from these stuff and focus on the new IP.
Will returnal be the only new first party single player ip we see this generation? Live service tosh we don't want, remasters/remakes of games that runs top notch backwards compatible (last of us 1, now 2 and reportedly horizon zero dawn), no hint of anything new/unusual single player coming soon. Jim Ryan has just left but suspect as consumers we will be stuck with some of his decisions around company direction and thevtype of games/pitches being greenlit for years to come.
Just give me an upgrade path so I don't have to platinum it all over again. As fantastic (and better than the first) as it was, it's a long ass game that doesn't need a remaster. As for PT 1, well, it was a PS3 game remade from the ground up with engine and new foundation of TLoUpt2, so the price was justified. Yeah yeah, the PS3 version got a PS4 port, but Pt 1 wasn't just a port.
@Nepp67 Your opinion is factually incorrect, it does something no other game has done and follows a natural path for character progression. I hated watching Joel die, but watching the effect it has on Ellie, her journey, how it breaks her and everyone around her, and most importantly (and why most people didn't like it), it shows you YOUR flaws and that's what gets you. You can't cope with your own flaws and insecurities. ND did exactly what they told us they would do, and no other developer has that pedigree. PT 3 will have to be phenomenal to top Pt2, which somehow was even better than Pt1.
I've always thought it was coming since the PS4 version never got a PS5 performance patch, to my knowledge. Add on the success of the show and the brand obviously being as big as it's been.
I'm not interested though. The PS4 game already looks stunning and better than most native current gen games. I've got to get back to my Platinum run sometime though
It was already native patched version for PS5. It's running at 60fps 1440p HDR.
So I can't see what they could do here
@R1spam no? bluepoint , asobi , firespirte , san monica studios are just some of the 1st party studios working on single player games? there are plenty of single player games they are working on?
@KilloWertz wasn't it confirmed they are working on several games atm? most likely last of us 3 , and a new ip , and guessing a ps5 upgrade to last of us 2.
@twitchtvpat which new single player ip have they announced they are working on?
@R1spam they announced they are working on games but haven't shown them off yet.
@Neverwild Yep. People are being a little dramatic over this, I think it's only fair. The first game has a native PS5 version, so it's now a bit of a downgrade to go from Part 1 to Part 2. It most likely won't be a major project for them either, it'll be along the lines of the Director's Cut versions of Ghost of Tsushima and Death Stranding, backport the newer features amd functionality of Part 1 to 2 with slightly nicer visuals (Horizon's rumoured "remake" is probably similar too).
@KilloWertz Your timeline's a bit off, Part 2 came out 3 years ago, not 6.
Naughty Dog used to be the most creative and best studio under Sony now they are the most creatively bankrupt, a one trick pony that's only able to create tlou.
I imagine after this remaster they will make tlous 3 then they will make factions, after that they will remaster the first game again and make tlou 4 along with a remaster of the second game again
There's nothing here to remaster.🤷♂️It's already on the same-gen graphics engine as the PS5 TLOU remake. All this game needs is a 4K rez bump, and that of course, should come for FREE.
I still haven't played part 2. So if it's coming to PC, I could get it. I played the remaster of the first game on PS4 and I think it was really cheap on sale.
@Tecinthebrain they are working on a new ip along with whats assumed to be last of us 3
@RobynAlecksys Don't throw your childish tantrum of your "opinion is factually incorrect" please. Learn to have a civil discussion or leave.
@LN78 I loved the story and characters of the first game and seeing 2 just basically destroy our beloved characters for a boring (and poorly done) revenge story is genuinely sad. To make a story where the entire personality of Ellie is gone was not the right move at all and just turned her into a boring killing machine.
It sure was cool back in the day when Naughty Dog made anything other than TLOU. It’sa good thing there are some good third party games in the pipeline.
@LN78 Lol ofc
I think I would pay up to $20 for the upgrade but I’m not spending another $70 on it.
It blows my mind that Sony has hundreds of games that can use the remaster/remake treatment (Hi Bloodborne!) but instead they are remastering a game that runs at 1440p 60fps and still looks better than a large chunk of PS5 games releasing today 😑
Can't imagine anyone would lie on their LinkedIn account...
Where’s all the PS5 first party games at? With the exception of Demon’s Souls, they’ve all been cross-gen.
@Kingleo31 being developed?
Talk about flogging a dead horse. How many dollars is sony, naughty dog and the big wigs trying to squeeze out of the last of us? As another has said naughty dog really is becoming rock star. Last of us part 1 ps3, last of us remastered ps4, last of us part 1 ps5 remake, last of us 2 ps4 followed by a 60fps patch that was very satisfying and more than adequate and now a last of us part 2 ps5 remaster. This is gta5 territory which had a 3 console life cycle also... seriously time to move on. There was a point where the name naughty dog on the game I believe would have sold itself alone based on their stellar reputation they should move on before they do more damage to said reputation. A Sci fi 3rd person adventure would be my call if in charge. The playstation community has been hurt by starfield not coming to the console this is the right play and the right time.
@JeongersGaming You're right, my bad. Not sure what I was thinking there, but it's still somewhat sad that there's a possibility we'll get a remastered version of that before anything actually new. If true, that would be 3 re-releases before a new game. We'll see obviously.
Absolutely no requirement for this. The original part 2 is still one of the finest looking games of all time and runs at 60 clicks. Another shameless cash grab.
Naughty Dog is completely off the rails. They’ve made me wait years for this new multiplayer all while remaking old games over and over again. What a despicable company.
The one thing they could do to save it is package a simple Factions II for fans. If they did that, all would be forgiven. But they won’t, because it would be what people actually want.
Either way, I’d never play that ridiculous campaign again. They really tried to make us think that gender identity would be top of mind for kids in a cult during a zombie apocalypse, and in the process made the most boring Mary Sue character in entertainment history. News flash: gender identity obsession is for affluent bored teens looking for a way to rebel and signal their upper class status.
what is the necessity of remastering the game? PS5 is backward compatible with PS4, if the game was from PS1/PS2, it would make sense to remaster it, this is a cretinity/greed with the fans of the franchise.
Free upgrade or I’m not really interested. The game still looks great. It cant be intended for this to be a full price release, surely?
We're now remastering three-year-old games? Good grief.
Another game from Naughty Dog Remake.
@Giancarlothomaz because at the end of the day/week/month a remake of TLOU2 will still shift many more copies than most games that release week on week. That’s why
@jandice maybe they need the money from these re-makes to build the new games we all desperately want? Ever thought of that? Sp games are not on-going cash cows like GaaS games are… hence Sony trying to force its way into the market so that these triple A bangers we always EXPECT, get funding
While I strongly believe they should focus on the 3rd game or a new IP, if this remake turns out to be true, I hope at least the PC version that normally comes with it is of much better quality than the first game's port was...
Already have the game on PS4, and it plays very well on PS5, not gonna buy the remake on console. But I would get the PC version a bit later, at a discount, IF its superbly done.
Okay fine, I'll buy it
@eagletrippin if you ran a business I’m not sure it would last very long
Will buy it for $10, but honestly it looked good just running on a PS5.
Now availible at 4K70.. $70 again that is.
Last of us remastered sold like crazy with a similar time frame to the original, so I guess that's the idea.
Diminishing returns as far as graphic improvements are concerned makes this seem less attractive I think.

Let's see what Naughty Dog has accomplished this generation, shall we?
Remaster Collection.
A "Remake" no one asked for.
A possibly cancelled Multiplayer spin-off is MIA.
Now there's another upcoming "Remaster" no one asked for.
This feels like an excuse for Sony to charge you $70 for a game that's honestly worth maybe $35-$40. This is a shameless Money Grab, when they could've just had a $10 upgrade for PS5 and a separate PC Release.
@Kelrics90 no offense but you are over reacting to something that is barely a rumor , if this is true, then the other stories of them working on multiple games including a new ip is true? people read too much into rumors.
I'd buy it! Not that long ago finished part 1 so a part 2 ps5 refesher would be fine
3 years into PS5 and nothing even hinted at by Naughty Dog yet Insomniac is about to release its 2nd major title.
Did he change his name to Neil Drunkman?
@eagletrippin it wouldn’t be a blank one would it ya melt. I’d grab it on sale probs for about £50 sheets no mither 👌
@Mikey856 lol. Of course you would, you lemming. Affording it isn't an issue — I'm a high-end PC gamer — it's the principle. And, on sale, for 50???🤣 Apparently, you wouldn't do very well at running a business, either, you schmuck🤣
This is where you delete that character Abby and Joel goes hunting for the fireflies that took Ellie. You know like any other good action movie I've watched since I was a kid. Yes I grew up in the 80s and 90s nothing seems to be fun no more. John wick and the equalizer that's about it. I still watch Bronson , Eastwood, stallion movies etc how about something like the cobra movie.🤦 ive deleted last of us 2 from my brain
lol
Seriously we don't need no last of us 2 remaster.
We didn't need a ps5 remaster of the 1st one. The ps4 version did the job.
We need devs to take a risk on new ips where's all the edgy games we had in the 00s just try it.
The fans will back you. I want the naughty dog that made great games back!
@eagletrippin
This will be a £20 sale in no time hell I'm not bothering adding this to my steam collection.
It's crazy when you think about fact that Naughty Dog released 3 games (if this remaster is real) during this gen and all of them was remasters...
...meanwhile their new game (TLOU Factions) is in shambles and their other new game is years away...
@eagletrippin what the f is your problem man. If I want to buy it I’ll buy it right it’s my bloody money I’ll do what the f I want with my money. I don’t see the point of spending ***** Ton of money on mtx but still millions do. Why don’t you stfu and worry about your own finances bro… what I’m a f’in fan of the last of us sue me you cnt
@Mad001 i hate to tell you this , but they are working on multiple projects , and that article is even on the site you are commenting on. i feel like most people don't read the article , and just like to comment on here. when they are ready to show off what they are working on they will.
@Mikey856 word!
@twitchtvpat my boggle is with the 2nd game 🤦
If you enjoyed it fair play 👍
I hope so some companies been dialing it in , we should of been on elder scrolls 6 and fall out 5 and GTA 6.
I want them to delete the 2nd game and redo.
@Mad001 they stopped time crunching which means games will come out slower. i'd rather them not work 80 hours a week so we can get games sooner. also games cost so much money to even develop these days taking risks aren't a smart move.
True they shouldn't do crunch time. I feel us offline gamers are being pushed to the side.
